History

Narbonne was a big centre during Roman times and there is a rather terrific museum of Roman stuff on the outskirts of town, on entering you are faced by a huge “wall” of exhibits, in a large glass atrium, blocks of carved stone piled up on glass-and-steel shelves from floor to ceiling, most impressive.

A hard-working donkey, milling flour, watched by a lazy hound.
Worried warrior.
The elegance that was Rome.

Art

Wandering back we find an old church hosting an art show – sculptures with shadows.
Ghostly figures, I was rather taken with these.

Food

Martini Bianco, or Campari. Butternut squash soup with parmesan foam and a soft-boiled egg, Monkfish and vegetables, apple-filled tarte tatin with cream. Good wine. And so to bed.
