An autumn trip to do some walking and sightseeing in the land where they speak Occitan, Languedoc.

Now known as the region of “Occitanie”. Starting with a few days in Albi, then a lot of walking then Narbonne, Toulouse.

So, an early Eurostar train from London – change at Paris – change at Toulouse – Arrive Albi early evening.

Our apartment is on the third floor and has a view of the cathedral.

Ready for food … pheasant with pears, beetroot, samphire and potatoes. A platter of eight cheeses, good wine. Ah, France.

The cathedral is a massive structure built of brick.
There is a massive brick bridge.
many bricks
A market in the square of course, seasonal produce, “Reine des Reinettes” – King of the Pippins, apparently.
The indoor market is rather posh.
Having coffee with a friend.
A colourful spoon.

on Saturday night we had a dinner of cheese and wine in a small Jazz Club – have a look.

On Sunday we went for a walk to a nearby village, along an old railway attached to a mine. On it’s own was a chapel and graveyard, the miners were proud of their craft, many graves having statuettes, engravings, photos.
Sweet heart.
It’s a hot walk, I could do with a lick of ice cream
