Snrise over the lake.

But a little way up in the hills another misty start to the day.
I usually come across a road used in the Tour de France, and this is the first one this year. A nice wide road and very little traffic, but still I couldn’t resist going off the planned route on tempting little lanes through the woods.

I’m happy here.

Lots of those churches with the bells today.

And some more modern stained glass.
I am now up in the hills of “Millevaches” I was attracted to the place because of it’s name, I assumed that it meant “1,000 cows” but of course it doesn’t, it means 1,000 springs. “Vacca” being an ancient word for a spring.

It is a watery, windy, wooded area, and hilly too. Lovely day’s cycling today, it took a couple of hours for the mist to be blown away then it was sunny with a cool breeze. Clean air, refreshing lovely countryside.

And so I drft on. A beautiful day’s cycling. Around five in the evening, close to my destination, the mountains of the massif central loom ahead. I will be crossing those tomorrow, to get to Cleremont Ferrand, in the meantime I need a bed for the night.

Which will be here, “Kota dans les etoiles”. A little luxury shed on it’s own in a field, I have bought supplies to make dinner, and settle in snugly. It has a skylight above the bed to gaze out at those stars, but the mist descends by 10 at night, and all is gloomy.
