We bought breakfast from a street market. Sicilyan street scene.Breakfast – fruit, olives, cheese. We made our way through crowded streets tolook at some churches – but we were running too late, they were packed with guided tours, so we retreated to the Botanical Garden. A lovely place, full of the smell of orange blosssom.interesting cactus flowers …Banyan trees …handsome little lizards …Water lillies and so on … also a nice restaurant. But at last we had to go home, get changed and navigate more very crowded streets to get to …the opera house! which is very grand.where we saw “Norma” by Bellini. A fairly daft tragedy, but lovely singing and music, and Bellini was born in Sicily, so appropriate fare. Opera in the grand Italian style.
