Another day of starting on the coast.
Heading into the hills.
Travelling through the hills.
There is La Spezia.
The sat-nav takes me down a steep footpath, impossible to cycle, so I walk the last couple of kilometers.
La Spezia is quite a big town, not a tourist place only. I have booked a room in a place that turns out to be linked to a school, you go through an entrance on a narrow street and are suddenly in a quadrangle as big as a football pitch, indeed kids are playing football and basketball. it might be some kind of religious-linked place, teenagers club, I don’t know. There are just a few rooms for rent on the third floor on one side. Breakfast in a small dining room next morning. I suppose it is the kind of place that can get business through internet sites like Booking.com and Air BnB. It’s a nice place to stay. I wander through the busy streets and find a work-a-day restaurant (some english spoken, plenty of tourists here too) and avoid the pasta course, work-a-day parmiggiano to start then seabass with contorno. Vegetables!
