Look at this lot, Auvergne’s specialities are charcuterie and cheese, add four fruit tarts, yogurt and creamy creamy butter. Besides there was bread, honey, croissant and a dish of blackcurrants on the table, and a pot of coffee.
The church is right outside the hotel. It was built in 1146, same date as the other one I looked in, presumably a period of church building here. It’s in very good condition, perhaps partly because it’s built of granite. Also, being a big church in a relatively obscure area, it was probably too expensive to re-model as fashions changed. Today willl be an easy day, with only 26k to cover and 650m climbing. Dappled shade in the woods.
A cool day of sun and clouds, through rolling farmland. Some brown cows break the white monopoly. Ending a day of mainly climbing with a steep descent into this valley.
